I’ve scrubbed off most of the rust but part of the chrome is still a rust color. Its for my electric smoker…

In short no, it will not harm you.

Many old pots and pans were iron and often had bits of rust in them as well as on them.

the small amount of rust (iron oxide) will just give you an extra (usually unhelpful but not toxic) small dose of iron.

Obviously you need to remove loose surface rust – no jagged shards of rusy metal please
